Research interests

My research is focused on the hormonal control of ion channel function and gene expression in endocrine and neuroendocrine cells. Ongoing research incorporates a range of electrophysiological and molecular techniques and skills, all of which are performed routinely in my laboratory. Electrophysiological techniques include whole cell and single channel patch clamp recording from primary and cDNA-transfected cells, and patch clamp recording from tissue slice preparations. Molecular techniques include tissue culture of primary cells and cell lines, cDNA cloning, PCR, Northern and Western blots, and gene silencing using siRNAs.
