Research interestsThe Groden Laboratory is focused on understanding some of the factors that confer inherited susceptibility to cancer, with an emphasis in the area of gastrointestinal cancers. The use of mouse models of cancer are heavily incorporated into our approaches which also include biochemistry, cell biology, and molecular biology. We study Bloom's syndrome and familial adenomatous polyposis coli, two inherited syndromes which confer susceptibility to cancer through alteration of the Blm helicase and chromosome stability, and the APC tumor suppressor, respectively. These proteins provide important clues to understanding some of the mechanisms by which the integrity of our genetic material, and appropriate cell growth and differentiation are maintained.Contact info
